Mission
The mission of the Toys For Kids Foundation is to provide assistance to established Bay County agencies and groups that share our vision of helping those families with children in need. With the support of dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, and various events held throughout the year, the Toys for Kids Foundation serve those less fortunate in our community.
Overview
Since its inception in 1997, the Toys for Kids Foundation has grown into one of the most prestigious charities in Bay County. With its main mission being to make Christmas a little brighter for those less fortunate in our area, TFK has evolved into a year-round charitable effort and has grown from one event to eight throughout the years.
In the beginning, TFK’s mission was to use the signature event at Christmastime in Bay County, the Toys for Kids Christmas Ball, as a way to raise toys for distribution during the holiday season to those less fortunate. The event continues to thrive. It has been a premier social event of the holiday season for more than 13 years and is still the signature event of TFK. With a guest list for the invitation-only event that runs into the thousands, our annual Christmas Ball remains one of TFK’s main sources of gathering toys before the busy holiday season.
The needs of our community have continued to grow, and the Toys for Kids Foundation continues to grow with them. Our mission has never changed, but TFK found itself requiring additional sources of revenue to purchase even more gifts, clothes and learning tools for the children of our area who need these items, most especially at Christmas. Therefore, the Toys for Kids Foundation Charity Golf Classic was born in 1998. This tournament has grown into one of the top tournaments held in Bay County. A complete sell-out since its inception, the tournament has relied on the generosity of our sponsors and the dedication of the players who participate to keep increasing the revenue produced to new records each year. Funds from the golf tourney are used for our pre-teen shopping spree held each December.
Still, the effort doesn’t end. To meet the continuing needs of our community, TFK has grown into a year-round fundraising organization that has a variety of events scheduled throughout the year that the community has embraced to make successful. We now have a scrapbooking event, Mardi Gras Celebration, Poker Run, Halloween Bash and are the chosen charity of Schooners’ Lobster Fest. Each day is full of amazement and excitement as the volunteer board of directors and the volunteer members of the Toys for Kids Foundation realize that their mission is accepted by the community and allows us to help all that we can during the holiday season.
The majority of the toys, learning tools and personal hygiene and clothing items purchased with funds raised through our multiple events throughout the year help children in Bay County, but we sometimes assist children in neighboring counties as we are able.
